Communiity Principles
Community Principles
TI is a family-friendly congregation and a welcoming space for people of all ages and backgrounds. We cherish the fact that our members reflect the diversity of the Jewish community.
Our Community Principles ensure a safe and positive experience for all our congregants and guests during services, events, and other gatherings. We encourage adults and children to adopt and express our Community Principles, and we offer each other understanding and patience as we learn them.
- We welcome children and families in our services and public spaces and believe their presence enriches our congregation and our community. We offer a variety of games and activities for use on Shabbat and encourage the use of our playground and outdoor spaces for ball games, tag, and other more active games.
- We respect our building, which houses our beloved community. We demonstrate this by cleaning up after ourselves, keeping hallways clear, and treating communal property with care.
- We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, respectful environment for congregants and guests of all ages. We show care for each other by being aware of our surroundings, using respectful language at an appropriate volume, and treating each other with kindness.
- We are a congregation of diverse traditions and practices. When gathered in community, our practice is to comply with the halachic standards of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism as interpreted by Rabbi Werbow.
